You are of legal age to get a license on your own at 18.

You may get a driver's permit at 16 if your parents sign a sworn declaration that they will be liable for any civil actions against you related to your driving until you are 18. You would still be personally responsible for any accidents that carried a criminal charge even if your parents still have to compensate the victims. While you have that drivers permit, you need to drive with an adult who has a license to drive valid in the Dominican Republic.

After six months of holding the drivers permit, you can opt for a license.

The legal driving age in the Dominican Republic is 18 years, but there is a process that allows you to drive at an earlier age. It involves driving only cars that belong to your parents and only driving during the day.
