It sounds very Zen. I bet you can figure it out if you meditate.

Can you still get into the lotus position?

Inside the box? I think that's what most do - they don't think past what is in front of them. I have always heard that more people need to think outside the box - look at a problem and see past the problem to find a resolution. I wonder if your boss is using the wrong terminology?

Good one.
That 'outside the box' admonition has been over -worked to the point of nausea. Maybe your boss was just pointing that out.
If serious, he must have meant something along the lines of 'stick to known criteria' rather than looking far-afield for answers, in which case he is anything but a visionary.

He might also be trying to tell you to find a simpler solution to a problem or problems. Sometimes people tend to over think things and miss solutions that are right in front of their face. Thinking "inside" the box would be clearing your mind of any strange notions and thinking on the most basic, simple level you can.

Believe it or not...

...my lawyer.

Maybe your boss thinks you're too creative. Wouldn't wanna screw up sales, ya know? With being innovative and inventive.

NO. and even if someone had I wouldn't because that would be putting restrictions on my own opinions, thoughts and intelligence.

Uuuh, yea. . .I broke it.

When he says "think inside the box"- that translates to "stop thinking outside the box" ;) . . . keep it simple!!!
You're welcome!
