Why the hell should we have any sympathy for them when the police are busting their doors down at 4am in the morning because of fears that they may be carrying out attacks?

frosty uk says having muslims has cost us millions through the years....... i am not sure what he/she means by that but we did invite them here, we cant just ask for the cheap labour and tell them to leave their culture and religion at the door. they may have cost us millions but they have also put billions back into the economy, now that piece of small minded racism has been dealt with, yeah 13% is really scary, but its our fault, we are the ones attacking bombing their muslim brothers, it is our press that drags the name of islam through the papers on a daily basis. if this so called war on terror looks a little unfair to me a young white non religious male how does it look to a 22yr old muslim lad whos grandparents have been killed in a US air strike. the problem is not how do we change the opinion of the 13% its how do we stop the other 87% from seeing things the extremist way. not really an answer to your question i know. and to mixmaster, i think the 13% relates to young british muslims, and believe me, there are many many young british muslims who are angry with the war in this country, there are many all over the world. i would be described if the 13% has been played down not sexed up

It is important that we do not marginalise Muslims. Young people are prone to radicalism - (1968 Student riots, Paris; Bernadette Devlin in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1969). Currently, many Muslims feel that they are being scapegoated, and the fact that we are involved in conflict in 2 Muslim countries, and that the idiot US is making growls at Iran, is not going to make the average British Muslim sleep easy in his bed.

Labelling Muslims because of current terrorism is like stigmatising the Irish because of the IRA, or Arsenal supporters because some Italian football thug killed a policeman.. Certainly, the authorities need to prevent terrorism, and I am sure they are capable of doing as such, but does the public need to wallow in hysteria as it is doing now. Judging by some of the comments I have seen on this site, people are creating a moral panic about the followers of Mohammed that is similar to the histrionics batted around Germany in the early 1930s apropos the Jews. We only need some latter-day Mosley to come along and co-ordinate this unthinking rabble and we have a potential civil war on our hands.

Islam is a disciplined religion that is capable of being practiced in a liberal democracy such as the UK without trouble to other religious or humanist groups. Muslim society is structured, operates to a code of ethics, in both a religious and civic sense. Admittedly, some of their practices may be alien to the non - Muslim, but that is their affair.

If we continue to rant on about Muslims, then we will marginalise even more of them. Muslims are capable of putting their own house in order, but as long as others hold the view that every British Muslim has a bomb in their bag, then we will eventually alienate the lot.By all means, nick the terrorists - Muslim, Hindu, Jain, Pagan, Christian, Animal Rights or Arsenal supporters, but don't write off an entire community because of a few hothead diehards.

How_would was close! I think that more than 25% of young Muslims generally support the terrorists. But only yesterday I was talking to a young Muslim at work, and he said "They get religion in their heads, and then anything is justified. They are too stupid too realise that in most cases they are killing their own kind, and making it harder for their people to live and work in peace". He was utterly contemptuous of their activities, and agreed that the Muslim leaders should be more vociferous in condemning them.
He immediately removed my preconception that ALL Muslims support the maniacs. So dont go paraphrasing Wild Bill Hickok's statement that "The only good Pakistani is a dead Pakistani". You would be totally wrong!

I'm surprised the percentage was so low, how would you feel if the spokesman for very large business interests invaded your country?

Saddam was a tyrant and he carried out many atrocities but because he was at war with Iran we didn't care, at the time when it mattered anyway.

I suspect this whole invasion started due to a payment dispute concerning an invoice, that and Saddam apparently tried to kill the current American Presidents dad, not clever behaviour really.

I suspect that the question asked has not been explained fully.

I believe many young Muslims understand WHY they went to these lengths, but nearly all of them will say that the taking of ANY life is Haram (Forbidden).

Name your source please?

Why the thumbs down? I've simply asked for the proof so I can answer this blokes question?

Shouldn't we be concentrating on WHY 25% of the young male British Muslims would sympathize with the 7/7 attackers? Perhaps the root of the causes of 7/7 and its outcome are there.

What sympathy are we being asked to have? If Young British Muslims are engaged in terrorist acts no one holds any sympathy for them as they are breaking the law; if they are British Nationals they are also committing treason.

What the answer is beyond this I don't know - but it's certainly doesn't lie with the UK becoming a nation of Xenophobes.

You should read more yahoo answers. In response to thousands of Iraqis dying under US occupation the response is GOOD FOR them. Exactly why you expect Muslims to be Lovey Dovey peacenicks, I don't know.

The terrorist attacks that most of us love are the ones they show on national TV where our F16s blast some civilians to dust: nice isn't it?

The other 75% were afraid they'd be jailed so they lied under the principle of Al Tekeyya.

I wonder why they call themselves, or are referred to as, "British". It would seem that they have chosen their version of a religion as identity over their nationality. If they are so convinced of the righteousness of their beliefs, they should go back to Muslim lands.
