Kaif deserved a place. Powar has been unlucky for quite a while now. He performs exceedingly well whenever he is given a chance but is dropped even after that.
I disagree on Agarkar account. He has performed well in West Indies in the last tour and has done the same in the recent trip of WI to India. I find Karthik should have been omitted. He does not have the capabilities to perform as a batsman. Better options were available like Kaif and Tiwari/Badrinath. You know Tiwari was the top scorer in the Ranji Season this year. Rohit Sharma and Gambhir could have been considered. Uthappa is selected for single score of 70. He would survive in the WC I doubt. Gambhir was a much better option as an opener with lot of experience and flair.
Still, let us see how the team performs in initial matches.

Kaif is an important batsman, who can bat steadily taking
singles and 2s

It is wrong to have a team full of attacking batsmen, like Uthappa,Sehwag,Dhoni,
Even Ganguly and Tendulkar are naturally attacking batsmen
Also Kaif is a brilliant fielder
Powar is a wicket taker, though hasn't done much with
the bat at international level
Agarkar,also , bats rarely,u can't call him a bowling all rounder
Kumble is a specialist bowler, though no longer one of the
world's best in ODIs
Yes,it is very likely that India will lose in the semis

I think you are mistaken. Both Kumble and Agarkar both are selected for their own merits- one as a spinner and the other as a pace bowler while in case of Kaif he is not in league of any of the middle order batsmen selected. Kaif is an excellent fielder but not a great with his bat. Even Raina has a better claim for a place than Kaif. Inclusion of Sehwas is a very calculative one because if he regains his form then team India's chances are far greater than the inclusion of Kaif or even Laxman.

Well Kumble is there bcoz of his experience & at any time he is better than Powar. WIndies wicket will help spinners a bit, its not like the earlier days where pitches in Windies is only for pacers. Sewag will bat well provided he gets a chance to open the innings with Ganguly but if he is given a chance down the order than I am afraid about this contribution. Anyway I can see India doing well (optimistic), but would have done better if Ganguly is the Captainship.

Kumble is most experienced spinner and highest wicket taken in Indian Cricket. No one can say that he is a waste and has been included because of influence. Ajit Agarkar is one of the best fast bowler available in the country. While exclusion of Kaif is sad, no one can be blamed for his exclusion as he failed to capitalise his place in the team despite giving ample opportunities.

kaif powar in kumble sehwag out..kaif brilliant fielder and a decent bat especially in pressure situations..powar nippy in his bowling..ability to take wickets..better batsman and fielder than anil kumble..kaif can replace sehwag cozz..he is a good fielder and you need a strong middle order nt four openers for world cu pas you wont be able to experiment there..

i dont think dere is any reason to drop kumble and bring in kaif/powar....kumble in first place is a very experienced player...n india needs experience players rite now in the team....and in the case of agarkar...i think he is one of the best fast bowlers india has rite now...n i agree...sehwag will surely regain his form...
