1992 Barcelona Spain Olympics

1992 was a pivotal year in the development of music. The most pivotal moment in musical development in 1992 was Nirvana's Nevermind going to #1 on the CD charts. This marked the point where Grunge began to overtake the Glam metal style of the 1980s.

Another notable event was the release of The Chronic by Dr. Dre. Though other artists (including Dr. Dre as a member of N.W.A., and Public Enemy, LL Cool J and Kurtis Blow) had achieved some mainstream success, The Chronic was perhaps the first real blockbuster hip hop album. It presaged the future mainstream dominance of hip hop, as well as the beginning of G funk-West Coast rap's rule as the most popular and influential type of hip hop.

This was a great year for me as my employment took a turn for the better, and economic times were better in the housing market too.

My brother was born in may of 1992, i was only 2 years old, but from photos that we have, i know that the clothes where really funny, but really cool with loads of neon-like colours and stuff like purple and yeallow together.

My mum's hair was permed to be really fluffy looking and so were all her friends'. We drove this old navy blue Mazda, which was, i guess, quite cool back then and my dad had a mustache. He still has these big sunclases like the ones they wear in Starki and Huch and he had a motorcycle.

There were also these old printers that made a terrible noise when they printed, and they only printed in balck and white. The cell phones were massive-huge like bricks and the tv were very bulky and had smaller screens than now.

Every one still went to the library to do their homework and listendto music on the radio instead of mp3's and ipods. lol Those were the days!!! ; )

War broke out in Sarajevo. It was very sudden. One day Sarajevo was like any other cosmopolitan city, the next day its lifestyle was on par with a third world country's.
Scott Simon's novel Pretty Birds focuses on a (fictional) teenager's life in Sarajevo that year. It also encapsulates a lot of the pop culture and other news stories of 1992. I might as well warn you: the novel is very brutal, but then so is war.

I was 32 years old in 1992, I really can't think of anything that was so very different that year than any other. For me personally it is was a special year, In Feb of that year I had a liver transplant. During that time transplants were still very new and not very many of us transplant recipients around.

It was an interesting election year. Ross Perot forced Bush 41 and Clinton to actually stay on the issues rather than dig up dirt against the other.
