hi im due to be going 2 gum clinic please can you tell me what happens, im a girl, and how long the test results take?

They will talk you through it all - all the tests available and any symptoms or worries you have. Then they will do the tests you want. Some are just blood tests and some are sort of like smear tests. It can all be over in 5 to 10 minutes. Nothing to worry about. It can all be done totally confidential or the results can be passed to your gp - its your decision. They usually get you to fill in a questionnaire first when you go in to identify if you want total confidentiality/risk factors. You also get the option of returning to the clinic for the results or they can text them to your mobile phone!

Nothing happens unless you understand the process and agree to it. The staff are friendly and informed and will do their best to make you feel comfortable. Some results will be ready straight away but you may have to wait up to a week for others. Do go and don't worry, it will be fine.
