It's unfortunate. I think if it's a serious crime then jail is the answer to the crime. Petty stuff (smoking pot, trespas, shop lifting, etc.) should not cause one to go to jail at a very early age. If a teen is smoking pot for example, putting him in jail is the worst thing you can do. What will he or she learn? Chances are when he comes out he will do other things worse as he will have problems getting a job, etc. Jails are for seriosu offenders not young kids who make a mistake.

Good question..i personally think it is sad..putting kids in jail could cause them to act out even more. but they do need to be accountable for their actions... when kids become criminals at a young age its usually because they don't have the supervision that they need, or the parents are doing something wrong..they need some kind of treatment program..but that's just my opinion

when kids get out of control there have to be consequences for their actions. they have to know that what they did was wrong and we have to deal with that and try our best to be a good person. It reminds us that we are all human and make mistakes but do they learn from their mistakes? If they don't, they will always go back to jail. If they want help and need help ask for it and people will always help you. Its all in how you look at it, but in the end we have to realise there are consequences for our actions. Take care Heather

Mine just got out. If only I had gotten him medicated for his BiPolar sooner. He never would have served 5 years for Attempted Assault.
