My 2 year old manages to elbow me in the breast every time he gets up from my lap. I try to stop him because its quite painful but sometimes hes too quick. He uses those boney little elbows to push off and man they feel like needles! lol Even when the little booger uses his hands to push away...OW! Guys just don't understand! I can only imagine what it must feel like for them...Whats the best way to protect ourselves? Should I invest in an umpires vest or something? lol What do you think?

On another note, constant blows to the breast shouldn't cause major problems should it? I sure hope not!!!

Oh my...I'm roflmao at my own question...

It shouldn't do any permanent damage. If he were actually pulling hard on them, he might damage the ligaments or something, but I can't imagine that a little kid can do too much damage.

At two, the kid's probably old enough to start being told (gently) to "Be careful... when you push on mommy's chest like that it hurts mommy." This won't always work (there's a reason that there's no such phrase as "as thoughtful as a two-year-old"), but it'll help... plus it's always good to start them on the path of consideration for others.

In the meantime, have you thought about getting a padded bra? I have one from Victoria's Secret that I swear could stop bullets. Being a bosomy girl it makes me look like I've been hit in the back with two cruise missiles, but it's good and supportive.

The worst you'll probably experience is bruising and perhaps (but highly unlikely) an irritated milk gland.

As for protection, I guess the best you can do is be aware that he's on his way up! And as soon as he starts his running leap get ready to catch and guide him. My son used to do the same thing and I somehow managed to keep myself protected. However, after 13 years, I can't really remember! I think I was just very proactive with helping into my lap.

Good luck.
