Latin saying (taken from an ode by Horace). The words were widely understood and often quoted at the start of the First World War. The full saying ends the poem: Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori - it is sweet and right to die for your country. In other words, it is a wonderful and great honour to fight and die for your country

I'm not convinced....... seems to me that dying for your country is generally painful and unpleasant.
I'd rather go with 'Do not go gentle into that goodnight.'
PS What's the Latin for 'Why do people cut and paste whole sections from wikipedia and call it an answer?'?

Since I personally don't want to die, I would not consider it sweet, but there are several people in the armed forces who would consider this poem title very true. However I am stumped as to what you are actually asking.

No. Death is always an enemy. And I find nothing sweet or decorous about anyone's death. Like John Donne I believe the death of any man diminishes me.

Yes! My life is nothing without my country. The place where my children eat, the place where my brothers and sisters live. I will lay down my life to protect our home.
