My microwave came on by itself this morning.

It might be a ghost- or a malfunction of the appliance, and you'd hate to find out the hard way- after a house fire.

Built-in timer or an electrical surge. Or maybe the unrestful soul of the previous owner of the house who died a violent, bloody and painful death.

An electrical surge could even lightening could do that. Believe it or not.
