In my last question I asked.....
I said when I have sex (still a virgin) that I will have to check out both the boy and myself before we make the desicion and the week before we have sex. Is it werid that I think that way, or am I just protecting myself?
Most of the people thought I was so smart and had a good head on my shoulders.
Why?
(and the question is about protection of std's from any type of sex)

People were right you do have a good head on your shoulders most people your age would just do it because everyone else would. I'm glad you think that way. It's better to be safe than sorry. You don't know what kind of diseases people have these days it is a unsafe world. If your going to have sex then you should know the guy and know what he's all about before you do anything you will regret. Good luck and be safe!!

In this question it sounds like you are trying to get more compliments. And if you're 13 you are way too young to be having sex! Maybe that's not too smart huh? Think about this before you do it. Someone can get AIDS and have it not show up on a test for SIX months. So you are not 100% safe. Always use condoms. Still 13 is way too young.

They think you have a good head on your shoulders because most teens dont think much about sex. they just rush into it because they feel like it. It is always a good idea to have your partner checked out, and ALSO, if you feel comfortable asking a guy to do this it means two things:
1. You are comfortable with him and trust him.
2. You are old enough to be mature about sex.
These are important things to consider when you are having sex...not just the first time! My mother always used to say "make sure he is someone you can laugh with!"

A lot of people (virgins and non-virgins) don't realize how widespread STDs are.
That's great that you and your partner will get tested before having sex.... but you can't be tested for all STDs. For example, genital herpes can only be tested for while there is an active outbreak. Most people don't realize they are carrying an STD.
Always use a condom for extra protection.

You were told you have a good head on your shoulders because you know better than having sex without protection .
That is VERY smart, playing it safe !
And you're not "weird" for playing it safe. I do the same thing. It's much better to be safe than sorry !

You sound responsible...a lot of people don't think that way, walk into a relationship or having sex with someone that they don't know, and end up pregnant or with a STD...good for you for protecting yourself. Think about you...don't listen to what a guy has to say...unless he really cares for you, he'll lie to get what he wants. He'll have sex with you...get you pregnant or give you an std and just walk away...

most people do not think about checking someone for STD's before having sex with them. however, you cannot tell if a person has STD's or not just by looking at them. certain types yes, but the majority you cannot.

they must of thought u were smart because u was thinking ahead and making sure u are protected.
my ideal goal for my son or future daughter is for him to remain a virgin until he is at least 18. but i know that these days its not always possible kids have other ideas. but i would like to hope that when he is going to do "it" then he will go the extra miles to make sure they are both healthy and protected.
