I have a half-wall with thin (1/16" thick) cork tiles glued to it. I've already stripped off the cork tiles and now Im left with a wall that has old dryed brown glue stuck to it. I need to keep the wall in tact so that I can texture and paint it afterwards. What is the easiest and safest way to remove this glue while meeting the above criteria?

We had that problem in our bathroom. We took down the tile board and was left with brown nasty glue. We tried a grinder, but that just melted it and smeared it worse as well as flung little fragments all over the place and made a huge mess.

I went to the hardware store to see if I could rent something to remove it and they said that the best thing you can do is cover it up with new wall.

I would say put a thin peace of Drywall over it and that would make a hole new surface to work with. You could spend more time and money trying to get it off otherwise. Good luck

If your going to texture the wall anyway, it doesn't have to be perfectly flat.
Just scrape or sand off the really big spots and the texture right over it.
