Captain Condescending is my hero, you probably haven't heard of him because I gave him his name, he is my husband, and while he can't fly and is isn't especially strong, he is gifted with a very sharp tongue ;)
It amazes me how he can be so charming and condescending at the same time...he can insult people without them reallty knowing what happened.
No, really though, ha ha ....
there are so many...
Martin Luther King...such a strong leader
Bob Dylan...what a poet
Jesus.....not bad for a carpenter
My mom....I was an @ss when I was a kid
My friend L.L. who has a horrible illness, who the docs gave 3-5 years about 15 years ago, she is so strong, such a lovely woman, so quiet and calm.
Who is yours?

Eric Burri. He is from my town, but he went to serve his country in Iraq. During his leave, he came into my classroom to tell us about all the good things in Iraq that never get on the news. I remember how fascinated he was with the chandeliers in all of Saddam Hussein's palaces. And how the soldiers there before him had taught the children foul language. And how he was convinced that the Burger Kings there served Camel-Burgers, because he never saw one cow his entire time in Iraq.
Sadly, Eric was killed by a roadside bomb two weeks after he came into my classroom.
You Americans out there may have heard of the Eric Burri Shoe Drive for kids in Iraq with no shoes. It started in his mother's garage and quickly attracted national attention. Just a small symbol of what Eric stood for.
Eric Burri is my hero.

Everyone who goes into work underneath someone who holds them back...be it the movie producers who are finally able to express themselves through independant film, or pastors held under the opressive thumb of a brittle, unfun reverend, or anyone who keeps hope though their creativity and enjoyment is trampled on by others.
Why do I admire them? Because their attitude is amazing, for one, and because those trials refine their passions and once they get the chance to break free, the results are amazing!
