They should require you to be 18 and if you do not own your home they will want to talk to the owner of the property.

I have had adopters bring me copies of their lease if they rent.

Sorry but all animal shelter require you to be at least 18 with proper ID. There's legal papers that have to be signed. If you want the pet, go to your parents and ask them to adopt one for you, explaining to them why you think your capible of handling a new pets care and needs. You may have the money for the adoption fees, but what about food, bedding, vet needs (shots, worming, etc.), toys and other things necessary? I like the fact that you have saved up the money for the adoption fees, but are you sure its enough? Different types of animals require different fees. One county near me charges $100 just for a cat. My county is a lot cheaper, but you are required to have the animal fixed within a certain time frame and that's expensive. My vet is reasonalbe and it cost me $227 to get 2 female cats spayed, a male cat and a male dog neutered with a 30% discount. Who's going to pay for an emergency vet trip for the pet. We've had 6 sick hamsters that required a trip to the vet and we've spent close to $100 on medicines alone. And yes, they will need a vet if sick. Think these questions over very carefully then talk to your parents about adopting a pet.

Oh you are so devious! lol
No. They'll ask you to sign a contract about the care of the animal saying you'll provide a home and food and... a lot.

What they might let you do is volunteer. You could go in and cuddle pet babies or take the dogs for walks or give them baths. That way you could see all the animals and touch and hug them as much as you can stand... even if you can't take them home with you.
I believe they'll still need a parent/guardian signature but is VOLUNTEERING!!! a very good thing. Why not call them and ask?

:o)

nope sorry hon. shelters can't let u adopt a pet w/o parents premission, because if ur parnets don't want the animal then it would go back to the shelter and at 12 ur parnets are reposaible for u, and the care of the animal. some shelters even want u to be 21 or older.... but u could maybe volentree at the shelter.
and talk to your parnets if they say no to the furry kind... maybe there would be some way to prove to them u can care for a furry pet. like a beta fish they take some work to proberly care for.
trust me i know what it is like to be told no about new pets....strays often followed me home.

<>I think it is wise to get parents/guardians permission, I also think it is the law. The adult is needed in case the animal gets loose or bites someone. It is legal stuff that minors are not permitted to do without parents consent, usually in writing. Depends on the State Laws, some may say yes, others say parents knowledge and permission.
Have Fun!

i'm pretty sure you couldnt because especially since it's a pound they dont want the animals to go missing or whatever again. you could also get in trouble with your parents, so i wouldnt advice you to not. for my parents i almost persuaded them to get me a pet by making up a list of all the things i needed to do to have the pet and to take care of it, and exactly where everythig was going to go, and if my mom wasnt allergic i think i would have got it :) hope this helps a bit!

You need a perents signiture to adopt from shelters and rescue organizations. Your parents would need to know about the dog, as it would be your pet living with you, so I would think you would want them to agree before hand. I would talk to them and show you are responsible enough to own a dog.

Sorry, hun, you need to be 18 to adopt an animal without your parents signature. You're not old enough to sign the legal documents.

No, you must have your parent's permission, unless you are over 16, and even then, most shelters would want their permission. You would be bringing an animal into the family, so the whole family must agree on it.
