I need more info. WITH OUT ASKING MY GRANDMOTHER about the Micmac in Maine. IS it true the US Fed gov in 1991 gave them rights?
I would like to find out what I can before asking the ICE cube granny any info.
Also can anyone explain the wolf spirit and the tribe?
Also any pictures of the porcupine quill on birch bark boxes.

my great granmother was born in Nova Scotia and they moved to Maine. She had my granmother in Maine.

If you can't find all the information you want on the Internet, I very highly recommend the book, The Wabanakis of Maine and the Maritimes ...prepared and published by the American Friends Service Committee You should be able to get it through inter-library loan. A Micmac friend told me that the Micmacs were not recognized as early as other New England tribes because the Micmacs tended to be more nomadic. They did gain some important recognition in about 1991. I don't know about the wolf spirit. Be brave and ask your grandmother or get some other family members to ask her. A few years ago the University of Nova Scotia started a program of collacting informatiom from elderly Micmacs .
