I don't know. I guess it's the fact that you assume that you will be forgiven. What people don't realize is those are the people who will be there for you when nobody else cares.

Zweebob is correct. I have come to terms with the answer this past year. I always seem to take out more of my anger on my family and my boyfriend. They always wonder why I let friends and co-workers walk all over me, and I can easily lash out at them with some harsh words. I realized the answer is that I know they love me unconditionally and know how moody I can be. We have been through ups and downs and they see all my flaws and still stay by my side. You can easily be mean to a loved one and know things will be alright (not saying it is okay to treat them like crap, you should never do that) but if you are to just lash out at a friend who isn't that close to you... the odds are she/he won't put up with that.

when u say harm, i hope u don't mean physically harming them cos that is not love. sometimes u hurt the ones u love with words u say or way u behave but never physically cos that would mean there is something wrong with u.

Because you can. It is easier to hurt those you love because you know it will hurt them. Strangers can walk away but the one's you care about is around you all the time and like someone else mentioned you know they will forgive you everytime you say sorry. Not nice but we all do it sometimes and regret it.

I believe we hurt the ones we love because we know they will forgive us if they really love us. :)

Because you know that they will always forgive you. It tends to be the people closest to you that you do it to.

Because you want to prompt their reassurance that they care for you...also if they didn't love you then they wouldn't care about your actions and therefore wouldn't be hurt by them either
