Everyone knows eachother from their past because they are all actually friends in the real world. The world in which we see them is actually a Total Immersion game (similar to VR, but you are unconcious and wired into the game, rather than being fed signals through your eyes and ears).
The numbers are actually the Gamer Tag of Jack - and once they figure this out they will discover the Key to the Kingdom and they will win the game - provided that they all survive...

i dont know! i dont even know what to think any more after last weeks episode, i mean, who was that guy and how did he make juliettes ex get hit by a bus?! and why was ethan there? is he the devil? and what does ben have to do with all of this? i mean, its like he's in charge and holding everyone there, but didnt he say he was born on the island?? and how is alex his kid & danielles?
WHAT IS GOING ON!!! i hope kate saves jack tho and the love triangle keeps going. and syied needs to hook up with someone. he's too hot to be left alone

Like the film "the Game", although I think perhaps the CIA have a hand in it somewhere.
I honestly don't know, I think the writers have lost the plot.
