Your teenage child gets in trouble and right way everyone is looking to blame the parents, do people seriously think that parents don't teach their children right from wrong?

True a child is the product of his environment, but if this child has been taught at home by his parent what is right and wrong then where is he learning it from school, maybe we should hold the teachers responsible for the childs mistake as well. If kids are punished for their mistakes how are they ever going to learn?

I agree, people are idiots.
At a certain age, lets say 12, kids should be held accountable for their actions.
Prior to that, neither the kid nor the parent should be liable for the kids actions, but the child's parents should discipline them for wrongdoing.
It definitely sends the wrong message to the kid if you blame the parents, it's like "well, you brought a gun to school and threatened to kill the principle, but it's OK, it's not your fault, it's your parents faullt."
Please.

Some don't hon.No I dont think its right but in some cases,,the parents arent good at parenting.Like,,kids that run the streets getting into trouble because they have no direction or support or structure because their parents dont care or the father is absent & there is no one to teach them right from wrong.I've seen this,,its too sad. While they are out trying to get food & shelter because the mother shoos them away because she is too busy with a new boyfriend & has spent all the food money on crack & expects the child to fend for him/herself.This is very much a reality is some young lives.

No it isn't fair but also, parents bailing their kids out of all kinds of trouble these days seems to be the norm. Why can't some parents let their kids be responsible for their actions?

i think its unfair to blame the parents for a child's conduct.
its 50/50. i've seen a lot of cases where the parents protect their kids and provide for their needs and then when they go off to school (obviously the parents arent around) they just skip classes and do things their parents wouldnt imagine.

No, it's not, but parents are responsible for the children till they are 18; so fair or not, they should bear with it.

No, it's not fair....you can teach your kids the right way but they are independent spirits and sometimes just do their own thing!

Until your child is of a legal age, you can be held liable for their actions. Not always fair, but reality.
