yes, you see this constantly in sales.

people with ethnic names like to change it slightly to make their names not an issue.

just don't go too generic or gimicky like Max Power.

on a related note, a salesman I knew with a real name of Tom Smith always took flack for being accused of changing his name.

You can be registered as business 'x' and after that you can have business 'x' dba 'y'. (dba, Doing Business As)
