Shrimp, crabs, and lobsters would be okay, but I would do research on the kind of water they need, and how to cook them, but I still don't recommend doing any of that,I would buy already cooked and ready to eat,or buy them from a local grocery store that sells them.Koi are practiclly a breed of goldfish, and shouldn't be ate, they are for large tanks, and outdoor ponds, not food.

Hi,
of course it is OK. If the water conditions are suitable for the type of fish then you would enjoy the freshest possible fish.
Of course there are many people who would find the practice of having to kill the fish before eating somewhat distasteful, so for these people it would NOT be a good idea.
All fish, meat and poultry foodstuffs have to be killed (except for a few things, such as oysters, etc, that are eaten alive) so if you choose to eat them you have to accept that someone has to kill them for you and put your qualms aside.
Many restaurants do offer 'pick your lobster', etc. where large tanks are on display, so you can choose which particular creature you would like to have cooked so, apart from the practicalities of getting the live fish to a home tank, there seems little to stop the practice becoming a favourite among fresh food lovers.
Cheers,

I assume this is at a restaurant?
If the county health department is OK with it, sure, why not.
Man, the overhead could be prohibitive!
They'd need at least two aquariums, salt and fresh water.
Possibly more tanks for species that would otherwise eat each other.
Tanks large enough not to crowd the "produce." -- A happy fish is a tasty fish! :-D
Also, the chef would have to be good friends with the supplier to have the ultimate of fresh fish delivered.
The catch of the day could be REALLY expensive!
More than I'd be willing to pay on a regular basis.

certainly, i'm an abused fish with purely one fin. So, i'd ask intense makeover domicile addition to drop via and lay out my aquarium for me. could no longer you think of the incredibly cool stuff they might do for me? element of my aquarium would desire to be made to look like i'm residing in a tree, or i'm under the sea. and that i'd have flat monitors everywhere! maximum suitable element? i'd have no charges to pay on my aquarium ever returned!!!!!!

for lobster i'd understand, but proper seafood lobster need big tanks with powerful filtration, not what you'd get from a cheap tank from petsmart!
and the fish you eat need large tanks too. preferably lakes or large saltwater containers. and koi, they're expensive collector fish, don't fancy eating one personally!
i'm sure the fish would taste better straight from the sea or from large purpose-built fish farms than from a small tank on your counter!

Just how do you think the fishies you eat meet their demise? Before you pass judgement on this lady's horrible animal treatment, maybe you should do some research on how the fish you normally eat are prepared. I'll bet they are butchered just as brutally. It may sound horrible, but at least you are guaranteed to eat fish as fresh as possible. Tell your lady friend to invite me for dinner. That makes me hungry!

Keeping aquarium in kitchen for keeping live fish for cooking seems not advicesable, as the fishes in the aquarium are no different from pet animals. We feed them, care them, enjoyed with them and become your loving fishes. So can you kill them ?
