They need to exchange their feelings, and if possible, spend sometime being together. Love does not always require outpourings and gifts. The longing and the language of the eyes are enough to reveal love.Something transpires in silence when lovers meet. For heaven's sake don't commercialise the finest element of human life.

Agreed that Valentine's Day has been largely commercialised these days. But then any popular festival is prone to commercialisation whether it is Holi, Diwali, Id or Christmas. It can not be prevented. Besides what is the guarantee that a new Lover's Day wouldn't be commercialised as well? On the contrary businessmen will jump with glee at the idea because it will provide them with another special day to sell their wares. If you feel strongly against association of commerece with any festival, you can celebrate Valentine's Day with your love without going for the commercial trappings that are available in today's markets.

Yes I agree that Valentine's Day is very commercialized since it's all about the elaborate gifts and dates out. It's the point that many singles avoid their friends who spend more time yapping about what they got their boyfriends and girlfriends for Valentine's Day and I frankly don't care because the man I was dating deprived me of Valentine's Day for several years due to his frequent incarcerations and I've had guys approach me for Valentine's Day dates just so they could get laid and go back to their friends to say they got some and they were without a date for that day. I think that Valentine's Day lost it's meaning a long time ago since it's commericialized well past the level of Hallmark, but you got many jewelry stores selling millions of dollars in jewelry every year since people also get engaged on Valentine's Day too. Personally people need to go and read up on the history of Valentine's Day.

Everyday with my boyfriend is Valentine's Day since we make an effort to do nice and thoughtful things for eachother all the time. It is nice to do something that shows you are thinking of that person...not necessarily buy flowers, candy, etc. I make an effort to call family and loved ones on Valentine's day just to tell them how much I love them. The stores are starting to make me crazy with the commercialism....Christmas things were out in OCTOBER! Find other ways to show someone you love them :) Try a romantic picnic in the livingroom by the fire

As far as my knowledge is concerned I think this day is not only for lovers but those individuals who have affection, respect and love towards each other like parents and children, teachers and students etc. I think it is because it was named after saint Valentine's name, right. As far as commercialization is concerned yes, it is highly and unnecessarily commercialized. And lovers actually do not need only one special day to celebrate their love. forget about valentines day but all our festivals and historic days have lost their true meaning today, specially independence day.

well for lovers everyday is a valentine's day..there is no need for any special day..but it feels really good when you celebrate your love along with all the other couples in the world....u can say sat valentine's day has been highly commercialized but who doesn't want to feel special? of course people in love make each other feel special everyday but what is the harm in having a so called fixed day that is officially meant for love....haapy valentine's day!

If you are really in love, there is no need to celebrate it on the name of some un-known third party like Valentine. Love is true some and two some. If some-body intruded into it means, it is not love, just exhibitionism. Valentines day paving way to indulge into pre-marital sex on the name of love. I am not a puritan, but I dare to say these generation youth are missing the excitement and thrill that give, while tasting the eternal sex with the life partner on the day of Nuptial Night. As we save money in fixed deposit to enjoy in our old-age, we have to cherish some un-polluted thrills and memories to remember them in our latter age. Same with the love and sex. Sorry, if I hurt revellers.

They would be peculiar lovers who need a special day to celebrate their love. All great lovers in history were always in a celebratory mood.Even an ordinary lover in love does not need a special Day for any aspect of the love chemistry.

I think that Valentine's day is highly commercialize and really is about selling flowers, cards and candy. You don't need this day to do something special for the one you love. You can send flowers anytime and do special romantic things any old day.
