when i see the olsen twins who are of identical and i see one has developed a problem i think is anorexia does that mean that the girl with the idea that she is fat looks at her identical sister and thinks she too is fat . or does the illness so confuse the mind that an identical twin could think my sister who is the same wieght as me looks great but i am very fat . is this what may be happening in such a case or is it too far out there

well I had identical twin friends at school... one of them developed anorexia and even ended up in hospital... the other one once the first twin was recovering started going that way too... I think that twins are probably more likely to both end up anorexic if they live in the same house and have the same experiences... coz anorexia is about controlling your life in some way... and weight becomes that focus... if both girls are the same type of personality then if they are experiencing stress or lack of control then they may both want to do this (independently of one another)... its difficult to say... but I've just gone onto google scholar and typed in twins + anorexia and there are loads of studies on this topic... so have a look there.

No, this is not the case. Anorexia is a distorted body figure - yes they are identical twins, but they are separate beings at the end of the day. Her twin sister does possess a higher chance of developing anorexia (due to their shared genes) but no, the girl sees her body separately from her sister's. It's like two friends (both thin). One of them thinks she's fat, but when she looks at her friend (who's in fact the same size) she sees a skinny girl.
