Here's a website for March of Dimes where the specific affects of stress during pregnancy are discussed.
Mainly, the risks are maternal. YOU developing hypertension ect. But the stress can also release certain hormones which affect the placenta and also cause the uterus to contract, causing preterm labor, which results in low birthweight.
Otherwise, no harm is done to the fetus.
The article is long, and apparently YA wont let it to be copied and pasted here, since I tried. Read the web article. It is very informative.

I can't really tell you any specifics but I can tell you that my best friend was under so much stress when she was pregnant with her daughter. They had to move 3 times and had money problems and family problems, she was a wreck. She was really sick for most of her pregnancy, had a hard time keeping anything down, she ended up in the emergency room a few times with horrible cramps, had really high blood pressure. Her daughter was 6 lbs 11 ozs when born and has acid reflux(but not sure if that is related to stress)

I'm glad you posted this question as a lot of women are concerned with it...including myself. I was VERY VERY stressed and would have breakdowns and start shaking and start crying all due to high stress levels. I went into my OB in the middle of a breakdown (I literally went into his office without an appt and demanded in tears that I speak with him) and he told me to calm down and listen to him. He said that the baby is SOOOOOOOO protected in utero (sp?) that stress will not do anything fatal to the fetus. HOWEVER when your heart rate rises, so does the baby's. So, if your heart rate is continually high, the baby has a risk of having a higher heart rate which can eventually lead to heart problems. But it is very very unlikely. If you feel yourself stressed, take deep breaths to lower your heart rate. Last month when I was having this breakdown, the baby's heart rate was at 189!!!! Then I calmed myself down and he waited for ten minutes until my heart rate had calmed and it was all the way down to 148. Hope this helped

I have had terrible stress while I was pregnant with my babys and they all turned out just fine and healthy. I am now pregnant with our 4th and have had the worse stress ever, even had a panic attack and couldnt breathe. It was awful! But my baby is fine, we have had so many ultrasounds and she always looks good, everything is healthy and she has a great heartbeat. Im now 34 weeks. The baby can feel the effects of your stress but it more than likely will not harm them.

pre term labor or delivery, a nervous or upset baby that cries all the time, or a "stressed out baby"
should mention that i too had a stressful pregnancy not only because of my ex but because i was having pre term labor problems, besides being really early my son turned out fine, not jumpy or nervous, that is just what they say will happen if you are stressed out all the time, and i am sure it does.

One of the most serious affects is premature birth. Stress can also raise your blood pressure and put you at higher risk for preclampsia.

stress will make the baby very easy to upset it will be jumpy and skiddish too talk to your doctor and avoid things and people who stress you and walk away before you get that upset right now your body isnt yours its the babies it takes two to fight or argue if you walk away it defuses the situation and when you return calmly talk things out stress is no good for anyone
