Every now and then my pc gives one beep which sounds like it is coming from the internal speaker in the pc. It happens randomly, not on any particular program. This is the first time i have had this problem so am unsure, any info will help. I have WindowsXP Home edition, i haven't installed any new programs recently, and haven't done anything recently that i can think of that would cause this. Please help!

PCs beep to signal there is a problem but if you start your computer and you hear "one" beep then thats normal, thats the sound of your computer saying POST was successful so now im going to load your operating system so u can start using the computer. POST is a self test that every computer performs. Now if you turned your computer on and then you get two or more beeps then there is a problem. Hope this was helpful.

This may be an internal temperature alarm. Check the fans on the CPU and surrounding area. Make sure they are clear of dust and are spinning correctly.
