4(x + 9) = 4
4x + 36 = 4
4x + 36 - 35 = 4 - 36
4x = - 32
4x/4 = - 32 / 4
x = - 32/4
x = - 8

Easy. 4(x+9) = -4 can be represented as
4x + 36 = - 4
4x = - 40
x = -10
Check by substituting in the original equation:
4(10+9) = 4 (-1) = -4
So, it tallies.

Divide the two sides via 4 to get 3(4x - 8) = 12x + 9 12x - 24 = 12x + 9 Subtracting 12x from the two sides supplies -24 = 9. it incredibly is in no way actual, whatever fee of x you utilize. So the respond is that there is not any answer.

someone will just give you the answer, but you should learn what order to perform functions. The stuff inside the parenthesis is last. The first thing you'd do is to get rid of that 4. Do you know what 4 (x) means? It means 4 *times* (x). After you figure out how to get rid of the four, you should know how to do the last part: x+9=-1.
This is just one question, getting the answer from yahoo won't help you learn the process.

divide both side of the equation by 4 and it becomes:
x+9=-1
now take 9 to the right hand side of the '=' and it becomes:
x= -10
Good Luck...
