Ensure they are accurate, unambiguous and the context is apparent. As a previous person said, mind maps are great too and they enhance memory.

A good measure is whether or not you can tell what the hell you were talking about when you review them after they've gone "cold".

Also, could I pick this up 5 years from now and duplicate this from what I've recorded?
