I havent missed a period yet, but I have symptoms : cramps, bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, constantly tired, eating like crazy, leg cramps, scary mood swings, and frequent trips to the bathroom. Thisis how I felt when I was pregnant with my little boy. I want to know how early is TOO early to take a blood pregnany test. Some websites say 7 - 10 days after ovulation - and some say 1 week after a missed period. Does anyone have any experience with this that could give me a solid answer? I'd appreciate it.

I know over the counter tests have become accurate enough that you can check right within the time frame of the first missed period. I believe one company even has one out that can test a week before the missed period! I believe that would be EPT.

You should be able to get an accurate reading from a blood test with the first two -three weeks. Your body's hormone levels start to change the moment that the fertilized egg attaches to the wall and that's when mother's make the telling hormone that the blood and urine tests look for.

Blood tests can usually be used much earlier then urine tests. Urine tests only show hormone levels when they leave the body as waste - and this may take some time to build up. Blood test however test what is flowing through your body at any given time. This makes them much more accurate and concise.

It all depends on how long you have been having these symptoms. Have you been having them for a week or longer? Is your next period within the next few days? If so - then yes, you can most likely get an accurate reading with a blood test. There are unfortunately no guarentees - and some women don't come up positive until several weeks into the pregnancy.

The best thing you can do is call your doctor's office and ask them to schedule you for testing. They can tell you when they can fit you in and if enough time has passed to pickup the heightened levels of hormones needed to show pregnancy.

Good luck!

You can know with the blood test after you missed the 1st period; but usually the home test give you a good idea instead of keep waiting... you could use it after couple weeks of the conceiving day. And if you have been pregnant before those symptoms are easily to recognize :) good luck!!

Yes, the blood test would pick up the HCG levels. However most doc want to wait until you miss your period before testing.

Hi,

I read that after the conception that means 7 days after the ovulation ocurred you can take the hpt and for the majority of women it should positive. But you can wait 7 days after your missed period for an accurate worry less result.

a blood test will show a week before your period is due. but keep in mind most doctors wont do one unless your late and have a positive urine test. save your money and wait you have tooo many signs i think its in your head because you want to be. relax ans stop dwelling on it. wait til your late and do a home test first
