The mark of a neo-con is big government, big deficits, uncontrolled spending, rigid lack of character, and totalitarian rule.

This goes against everything true conservatives stand for.

Today's Republican party is NOT the same Republican party my parents supported. This group has gone so far to the right they've fallen off the effing edge! What it has done for me is to push me back to the left. I'm not far enough to the left to be considered a Democrat, however. But I'm CERTAINLY not a Republican, either. I'm now in favor of a more middle of the road politician.....one who can and will cross party lines in order to find a solution to the problems at hand.

Define "neo-con". I am a true conservative, and I know the context in which Rush's words were uttered. I can tell you, he needs no condemnation. I am the granddaughter of a WWII veteran, daughter of a Vietnam veteran, stepdaughter of a Desert Storm veteran, niece to a Korean War veteran, and cousin to an Iraqi Freedom veteran, and I was in NO WAY offended by Rush. I know that he is more patriotic and supportive of all of our veterans than you will ever be.

So who invented this neo-con label anyway. I thought all labeling was wrong if the Democrats are correct unless they are slamming Republicans, then it's OK.
How do you stop people from joining your party? I bet the Democrats wish they could throw back a few of the fish they've caught lately.

I love to see people say they are "against" the things you mention yet they don't realize that Bush has overseen big govt., spending, lack of character etc...
its incredible.

I believe that what you think of as "true Conservatives" is currently referred to as Libertarian.

Small govt. that doesn't tap your phone, enforces national borders and does spend to oblivion

Gladly! I'd be proud to boot out RINOs like John McCain in favor of common-sense conservatives like Tom Tancredo!

Fear will change what people believe in. If they're afraid that the boogeyman is going to get them, there's nothing they won't let their government do, as long as it claims it's doing it for their protection.

Sad, but true.

We should stop calling them "neo-cons," and just call them what they are: Republicans.

Everything you list as a mark of neo-cons are actually Republican principals.

The corporate media has consistently told us otherwise, but just look at the record.

I don't think so. It seems to have the snowball effect. As it continues to roll, it gets larger and larger.
