Happiness is a state of mind. I'm not gonna say that I'm "happy, happy!" all the time, but I often ask myself the opossite question: "Does people train themselves to be UNHAPPY?"

Think about it: all the time I see people unhappy because of the silliest things, and I say: "Man, you should take some time and walk downtown to see the homeless, and you'll see some serious problems". I mean, see this people: they don't even have a home, they don't eat well... "They wish they could have the life you have" And still you manage to invent yourself some problems!

Buddhists say that all relies on the "craving", the "always wanting more", and I think they're right. It's not a bad thing to want more, because it's what motivates you, what ignites passion. But maybe some people goes a little too far in their concerns about the wrong things. I now always try to take it easy and surround myself with things and people that are happy and optimistic. That's why I don't like "punks", "emos", "goths" and that kind of people. They're so ridiculous to me! They go like "oh, look at me, I don't care". But it's the most egocentric thing!

I read somewhere that the best thing is to be "happy but unsatisfied". It seems contradictory, but it makes sense. Be happy, stay down to earth, but always trying to improve and achieve bigger things. And realize that things are often more simple that they seem. Ain't that the best thing?

Yes you definitely can train yourself to do anything. The brain is a muscle and it needs to be used. We have to be in control of our emotions, they are a good thing to have but not when they are out of control.
You wake up every morning and make a conscious decision to be happy, if the day goes kaput then you wake up the next day with a better solution and possibly better choices and write yesterday off as "Just a Bad Day". Then get on with it

Heres another tip "hang around happy people", Light begets light and you will become like those you hang around

I think that if you are lucky. and in the right state of mind-
you can generally train yourself to be happy.

this does not mean you will be walking around with a smile on your face 24/7, but you WILL be happy, even if things occur which are unpleasant- you may see the whole picture and still be satisfied.

my own experience teaches me that if you want, you can feel anything you choose.
you just have to be careful what you choose.

You can train yourself to pretend you are happy, like to put on a good happy face infront of people. You can't train yourself to be truly happy without supplies, like real friends and a family that loves you and self-respect, because think about it, thats all you really need to be truly happy, so they are your tools and with that you can train yourself or work on your happiness. some money never hurt. if that makes any sense?

Yes! Happiness is a state of mind. It's easy to be gloomy and feel that the world is against you. If you "train" yourself to be positive and happy, it is amazing how sweet life can be.

You absolutely can. But just like a diet or exercising, it's going to be an everyday thing and it's going to take some work. In time, it will be easier to do and it will end up feeling less like work and then before you know it, it's not work at all.

Sure you can-the power of positive thinking. Its easier to figure out what is making you UNhappy, then change or eliminate that from your life. Quite simple really
