I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX and I can't seem to get the front tires off. I removed the lugs but to no avail. The tire won't budge. Any suggestions?

put the lug nuts back on finger tight and put the car on the ground roll it back and forth a couple feet while turning the wheels left and right, this should pop it loose, the rim is probably corroded to the hub

Rust has built up between the wheel and spindle. Thus causing it to bond together.

This can be a serious pain to deal with. Whatever you do DONT drive with the lug nuts off the car or even loose. YOu can cause some pretty serious brake and suspension damage if the wheel falls off if your friving. Not to mention you are likely to get into an accident.

Since you have the car you can use Brake Cleaner to spray where the wheel and spindle are together, trying to saturate the rust that has bonded your wheel to the rotor hat/spindle. You wont have to worry about the Brake Cleaner fouling up your brakes. It will evaporate pretty quickly. Then take a heavy rubber hammer and start banging the backside of the wheel. You can also to the to the front but alternate opposite spots on the same side. So if you start hitting the bottom, hit the top after a few hits. Then alternate to the sides.

If that fails you can do this also. Get a good size wooden block, preferably a 4x4 or 6x6 to set the car down on when you lower the car to let the weight transfer back into the wheel without the lugnuts on. If you do this place the block under the right side jack point or the front tow hook. Both are rated for vehicle support and wont bend the underbody.

If all else fails you can use a product called PB Blaster. This is a very strong lubricant. What ever you do , do not get this stuff on the brakes. You will foul the pads. If you get it on the rotors you can use a Propane torch from Wal-Mart and burn the PB off., it is extreamly flammable also. So be very careful. Also avoid hitting any part of the brake lines and caliper. Its unlikely that you will melt the rubber boot that holds the caliper piston in place but it is possible.

So once you apply some PB Blaster to the desired location let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then repeat pounding on the wheel.

Also if you use a large rubber mallet dont place your head directly behind it as you are likely to bounce the mallet of the timre and smack yourself in the face. This can be quite painful.

I hope this helps solve your problem. Good Luck.

Once the car is jacked up and all the lug nuts are off. Make sure the wheel is a good 6 inches from the ground. Kick (with your foot) the rubber on the side of your tire near the bottom of the tire and it should come off. the top of your tire will come out at you and you can then pull it off with your hands.

Hope this helps
