You seem to be able to breath a lot easier, but at the same time the baby is putting constant pressure on your bladder and you have to constantly urinate. not such an even trade, stay close to the bathroom! This is a sign that the wait to see your little one is very near. congratulations

I have had 6 children. Usually you know you've "dropped" because every person you see says "oh my ..you've dropped!" secondly you'll notice that the top of your belly is flatter and then BAM belly. It sounds to me like you're there sister. One VERY important thing..unrelated..but VERY IMPORTANT...even if you are going in to the delivery process with the "natural" state of mind(delivery wise) sign up for the epidural. When I had my first I refused the Epidural and did not sign the paper. Full blown labor at 2:00am is NOT the time you wanna be worried about signing forms. Best to cover all the bases. Just as general info..I've had 4 "natural" and 2 Epidural and personally I would go with the Epidural EVERY time!!!

Lightening or dropping only occurs in the first pregnancy...or so that is what the literature says. You can tell by placing your hand under your breast measuring the distance from there to the shelf of your uterus. If you can fit your hand (fingers horizontal) between the areas mentioned, you have most likely dropped. It could be a couple of weeks yet before you deliver, but you're getting closer. Yeah!! Good Luck.

For me, other people noticed first. I could tell myself because bending down to tie my shoes became a bit more difficult than it already had been. Same with pants, I wore normal low-rise jeans throughout my pregnancy, then towards the end they were no longer comfy and I was starting to wear the yoga-style pants.

When I dropped it was alot easier for me to breath but the urge to have to pee every few minutes came back as well. You can tell by measuring from the top of your pubic bone to the top of your uterus. If the measurement is less then the last measurement at your doctors office then it means you've dropped.

When I dropped I just knew it. I could feel the baby's movement was a lot stronger a lot lower. Also..everytime he would move just right I had a strong pain really low and then I would wet myself.

You may be able to breath better, pee more, eat less, and feel the pressure from the weight of the baby.
