I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. :) There is good music and good musicians in any genre of music. Just as there are highly intelligent and some not quite so bright in every aspect of music. Music and it's fans are kind of like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Some have nuts and some don't.
If you're referring to the Dixie Chicks, they won five grammys, so they've got to be doing something right somewhere. I personally don't support them, but that's my personal opinion, and everybody has one.

I've never been hugely into country, but not all country performers or their fans are to the right of Attila the Hun or functionally illiterate. Willie Nelson is an advocate of alternative fuels and supported Dennis Kucinich in the last presidential election, Steve Earle is definitely a lefty, and Mojo Nixon made a pretty good album with former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra a number of years ago, called "Prairie Home Invasion".

If ignorant means knowng the lyrics and what they mean, the bios of the artists, loyalty to a particular genre over a lot of years, devotion to The American Way and family values, then yes, most of us are ignorant.

human beings in India are as ignorant about music, if no more beneficial. a minimum of bands of non mainstream genres take care of to live to inform the tale in western international places. yet there are hardly any bands in India who can save on with their pastime in music (so long because it isn't crappy bollywood stuff) and create non-mainstream music and anticipate to make a residing out of it.

Based on what? Perhaps we are just MORE educated then you. If you mean the thing with the Dixie Chicks then no. You are only listening to THEIR side, which excludes her feud with Toby Keith and the F.U.T.K. shirt that really caused the problems. Actually we just prefer our singers to do just that, sing. I have opinions but no one cares if I spout them off. By acting like we should care when they do they try to say they are better then us. That their opinion should matter. That is why most country singers just keep quiet.
