Has the computer been able to see the wireless network before? If so, then it's possible that the new hub and the computer's wireless network card aren't compatible. Check the fine print on both the card and the hub; in particular I would check for what wireless standard the card has (802.11g, for example) against what standards the hub will work with.
If the computer has not gotten onto wireless before, check the system requirements on the wireless network card against the technical specifications of the computer. It's possible that either the hardware or the operating system aren't up to snuff for using the card. And if the computer and the card aren't compatible, then that would explain why the computer can't find the wireless connection.

I assume she is running Windows 98se or NT4 (these are the only s/w that will run at reasonable speed on a PII) - so all she needs is a Wireless Adaptor & appropraite drivers.
I expect she was provided with a USB adaptor - but as it's a Pentium II, chances are the Motherboard is quite ancient and neither it nor Win98 are able to understand USB very well.
I'm assuming a desktop PC = in this case I suggest get a PCI wireless adaptor (before buying make sure drivers exist).
Good luck !

Your computer will need a wireless card or USB connecting wireless receiver to be able to connect to a wireless network. Computers of that age will not contain any harware that can detect a wireless network. You can get wireless USB adapters for about £15 on ebay.

whoever bought you the cpu switched the processor on you. Celeron is the worst pentium processor ever made and pentium 4 HT in all fairness severe-high quality. there is celeron then Pentium II, then Pentium III then Pentium 4, then Pentium 4 HT.

It is really not the Processor issue.
To connect to a wireless network, you need to install a wirelss card. Most laptop has one (if it is recent, bought in the last 2 years)
For desktop, you normally conncet to LAN card
If you want to connect desktop to wireless, you need to buy a PCI or USB wireless card (will cost around 50-100 dolars)
