We are moving out of our house to reno. The landlord of the 4 plex we are moving into hasn't decided on utilities yet. There is only one meter so how do we know who pays what? He is rebuilding the 2 downstairs units so he has power tools going all day. How is the bill divided up fairly? Is this even legal?

in this situation, you would not divide the bill, he must decide on a rent amount, that would include utilities,,,,,, it should be what a person would pay for the two,,, in a similar apartment setting,,,,,, of course, that varies by person,,,, i would say no more then $100 above what the apartment would rent for,,,,,,,,, then you sign a lease to pay that amount,,,,,, till the lease expires,,,,,,, he also could consider splitting the meters into 4,,, while yes an initial cost, in the long run it would be best, for all,,,,,
