Israel has served as an American proxy and ally, whereby the US uses Israel’s strategic positioning to further its own designs in the region, warranted or otherwise. Israel, on the other hand, has benefited tremendously from American financial and military aid, in addition to political backing that has shielded it rather successfully from any accountability to international law.

With prominent figures such as President Jimmy Carter and Israel/Palestine expert Dr. Norman Finkelstein stepping forth to ask the US people to reconsider unbridaled support for the Occupation, will Americans listen?

If enough pressure is put on the Government, particularly Congress, the real peace process can begin which includes a Palestinian State.

Moving this forward would greatly increase the likelihood of success in Iraq and other theaters in the Middle East. Ignoring the call for thought will leave us with nothing more than violence sustained by our efforts in the Middle East.

I could only hope so...But as long as US is the only superpower in this world and as long as they are blindly supporting Israel,I don't think we are going to see a Palestinian state...
But now that US is loosing its credibility (because of Bush, because of the war in Iraq which was started by reasons that were proved to be false and more this war is not going very well) and also it's statute of the only superpower, I don't know how long US will be able to protect Israel...And those oil resources are not going to last forever. So even if US will still be a superpower they won't have any interests in that area,so keep protecting Israel will only be a waste of money...
After what it happened this summer in Gaza and Lebanon people are starting to realize that Israel is not so innocent as it wants to seem ...And an ex US president criticizing Israel made many people question some Israeli's actions...
So ,yes ,I think it is likely that there will be any truly sovereign Palestine in the next 10 years...but in 10 years many things could happen...

Your whole question is flawed
There is no such place as Palestine
Jimmy Carter is a Jew hater and there for who care what the anti-Semitic says
Real Peace will only begin when the Palestinians recognize Israel and Hezbollah is gone
Until then nothing
