oh here's the rob! why do my mom and I always fight with dresses?! since i was young, i think it's only seldom that we got to fight that issue, it's always either me not liking her dress or her not liking mine!
anyways, how did i make her accept my way of dressing? by not only saying...mom, thanks for that dress but i jst dont like to wear that, but dont u think il be looking too skinny wearing it?! but also making her see too that the dress i chose is where am comfortable wearing!
u jst need to tell her straight but in a very polite manner! if there's one person who will understand children first, it's got to be our mom! though we still argue on what can fit who, we can work it out now! jst a matter of talking eh!
goodluck!

Well, I would normally give you the long-winded speech about how dressing gothic does not equal being gothic, but at your age I think you're mature enough to know that already. (And I will leave the previous statement for those who are not in the know.) The next time she comments about the way you dress, simply explain to her that you just like looking the way you do, and you have become no more rude, violent, or antisocial (you haven't, have you?) than you were before you started dressing 'that way'. (I assume this is tasteful attire, not pre-ripped Hot Topic pants and obscene, scary t-shirts.) I personally recommend Gothic Charm School.com, as it provides good examples for dealing gracefully and tactfully with such confrontations.

A. How old are you?
B. Is it your personal expression, or are you following the crowd?

My daughter is 14, she loves to dress a bit gothic and does the dark eyeliner thing and hangs out at AMTGARD (Medevial fighting club with PVC swords and such)... It's personal expression for her, she designs some of her own clothes and is very artistic, but she'll also turn around and wear bright colors and do very girlie non-gothic things. So, if you're not all depressed and act like you're going to kill yourself at any given moment, just explain to your mom that you feel like you should be allowed to express yourself within acceptable limits, and agree to dress a little more conservative for her sake on certain occasions.

Mom, I have only a few years being a teenager. I know that when I get out of school and enter the job world that I won't be able to get away with wearing what I wear at work.
What I wear isn't vulgar or trashy. I just like dressing different than the norm. I get good grades and I have a good head on my shoulders that that's what really matters. Not the way I look. And I know you are proud of my accomplishments so far.
Let me figure out who I am and enjoy being childish as long as I can. I will mature into an independant, thinking individual who you will be proud to call your daughter.

LOL! I went through this too. I didn't mean to laugh about the situation but It made me recall everything my mom and I went through. If you are living a normal life- meaning going to school and doing well, working and planning for a career and most of all staying out of trouble, just explain to her that this is who you are right now and despite what you look like, everything in life is fine. You won't be goth forever- trust me. After awhile it becomes really high maintenance and somewhere in your mid twenties you start to look a little silly.
If you are involved in a crowd that is out drinking and taking drugs every night then I don't blame your mother for having concerns. I saw way too many people end up with dead end lives bu going that route. Good luck with your battle- It could be a long one :)

properly i'd could trust all and sundry else that this manner of look you defined definitely supplies off a dismal vibe, and to a lot of folk does no longer be considered alluring yet, I do think of you certainly have the ultimate to be your self. perchance your dad will progressively relax a sprint and get used to the type you p.c. to gown and do your makeup. do no longer take this offensively, whether it does no longer harm to purpose out some quite some issues now and back too, you may like it, in case you do no longer you are able to flow back to the type you have now. I generally exchange how I do my makeup and how I gown...that's form of exciting to alter now and back, yet that's basically my opinion. desire I helped, sturdy success!

why would you want to dress gothic? to be an individual? like the millions of other individual goth dressers out there? Nothing screams sexy like black fingernails and blue hair.
