I'm going to Miami for the first time and I have no idea what to expect. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? I won't have a car so I primarily will be walking or taking cabs. So a hotel close to the beach and the city would be awesome. How accessible is everything by foot? I'll be there at the end of Mach through the Beginning of April.

First thing you should realize is that Miami is not really a walking / taxi kind of town. You will be very limited by your lack of transportation. If you want to be walking distance to the beach, then you should stay on South Beach. However, this will be expensive.
Attractions in Miami are pretty spread out, up to a half hour drive from place to place, so you can't walk. Taxis are not too common, especially outside of the main tourist areas.

South Beach is great! The Clevelander is a nice party hotel....if you are ok with a little noise. There are several small hotels right along Ocean Drive. Ocean Drive is right across the street from the Beach. No need to drive...everything close by. Have fun!

If you don't have a car, I strongly recommend you stay in South Beach. Everything will be in walking distance, and that's where all the action is.

Hey, it depends on where you go in miami. If your at miami beach, there is plenty to walk to all day. They have nice restaurants all around gift shops. You can occupy your time for a good week without a car there. have fun, live it up. Spring break is the time to be there. if your old enough or young enough, go to some clubs or bars they have.

You'll need to find something on South Beach (below 23d St, preferably below 16th St) on Washington or Collins Avenues or Ocean Drive. Then you'll be within walking distance of most of what you want.

Learn to speak Spanish. I'm not kidding, it's more hispanic than you might expect. English is not the lingua franca around there.
