as with lots of things, not much meaning at all. People/journalists try to read more into things that are really there, and with Led Zep the list is endless, with Hipgnosis creating the sleeves. Especially with the 4th album where you have the 4 symbols and all the "backward masking" rumours....

i think he was actually still hanging on the wall of the flat that the picture is of, one of those ironic little moments, i don't know where the flats were, or why the photographer was even there, but if you open the gatefold out it may give some clues if you recognise the rest of the scene...?

Have a feeling it is the grim reaper/old father time if I can remember the cover the figure is in white and the background in black.
