FAT, FAT, FAT and FAT. We can start by having our kids eat the right foods and stay away from fast food places. The schools can start by doing away with the candy and pop machines in school. Plus, they can also quit serving pizzas and junk food in school. Fast food establisments are the root of the cause of our unhealthly lifestyles today. We can't shut them down, but they need to get the point. Either start serving less junk or we will go somewhere else. I really think that with healtier foods there would be less cancer and heart related sickness Also, we have a major problem with the millions who are not coved by health insur.

STDs are soley caused by the choices a person makes. Heart Disease is largely caused by the choices a person makes(genetics play a part). The answerer above me is right about education. It can have as much impact on these diseases as finding a cure.
The largest major concern in Health Care, IMHO, is the rapidly rising cost making access to quality health care difficult. And its not just prescription costs and co-pays, but the actual cost for insurance. A family could easily pay $800+ a month(employers pay the bulk in most of these cases, but it still comes out of your pocket). $9600 a year, especially if your healthy and don't go to the doctor but twice a year(8-10 visits for a family of four). That's why I don't carry total coverage, just catastrophic. Cost my family about $3600 a year and I pay all office visits and prescriptions out of my pocket. Costs me less than half what full coverage costs.

Sexually transmitted diseases. They have huge impact on people's health. AIDS kills, and various other STDs can cause cancer and other diseases.
How can we overcome it? A combination of education and abstinence.
