Where did you go last, and what did you do after you got home last time??? Did you have to pee like a race horse? Are they in the bathroom? Were you hungry- are they by the refrigerator? DO THIS AS SOON AS YOU FIND THEM!! Get a nail and hammer it into the wall by your entrance door. Hang your keys here as soon as you walk into the door everyday and take your shoes off too. (keep a spare set of keys hung here too just in case!) Start making this a habit! If you realize you have kept your shoes on when you go looking for your keys, then most likely you have not hung your keys up on that nail either and your keys could be anywhere! First try checking your pockets, inside the couch and chairs and also remember any countertop areas that might be collecting piles and hard to find. Get a big flashy bright keychain so your keys stick out from anywhere when placed in an odd spot. If you have kids, go ask your kids to play a hide and seek game with you! Tell them the first one to find the keys gets a reward. At this point, I hope you have an extra set of keys or a nice friendly neighbor who can give you a ride!

Sit calmly and think about where you last saw them, rather than frantically searching. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Or try focusing on doing something else and it may just come to you.
Sometimes running around looking just blocks the answer. I did the breathing technique successfully once when I couldn't find my driver's license!
You can also be thinking of alternatives: if I absolutely can't find them, what are the steps I need to take? Call the car dealer? a locksmith? my boss?

Look in your bedroom under you bed there next to your dirty socks close to the foot of your bed.
