Well, that tells me never to do business with H&R Block.

If I were you, I would return to the boss and if she doesn't agree with you, I would quit right then and there. That way, the other girl will be screwed into working it.

I don't know where you live, but where I live in Minnesota, there are lots of receptionist/admin. assistant jobs available right now. Find someone who will treat you with some respect! (and with set work hours so this doesn't happen in the future)

It sounds like you aren't being respected in your position. You can't let people walk all over you like that. I'm assuming your boss is the one that told you to take those times off, and she should be working to give you what she already said was yours. If she doesn't, then perhaps you may want to start looking for another job where you will be more respected and appreciated for all you do.

If you intend to stay at the job, then it is best for you to talk to the other receptionist and explain to her what you were told. If she doesn't at least make some adjustments then go to the boss and really force her to listen. Explain your position and why you're offended by the situation. I'm sure you would be willing to compromise on some of it, and offer that. Offer to work Tuesday and Friday night if you get Vday night and Saturday off (or whatever works best for you). This way you don't come off as too stubborn, but still show you're not going to be pushed around so easily.

Ok, you would love to quit but can't? H&R Block is not a permanent position, considering their office isn't even OPEN year round! I would give notice and start looking for a new job. Anytime a boss tells you to "get over" something like what you described should be a flashing neon sign as to the fact that you do NOT want to work there forever!

I would go and tell the boss that I ws good enough to work all the long hours when the other girl was sick, and I thought that it was only fair that I could take Valentines Day off. Also I would tell them that I didn't think it was fair that she got so many hours and I only got a few. I would also tell them that I would talk to the labor board.

Stand up for yourself, companies get what they can out of you because they know they can. Trust me, sometimes you have to make a stand! Tell them..
"Look, I'm a very dedicated hard working employee with good standing and I intend to be for the rest of my waking life. I feel last week I had gone far and beyond the call of duty. I am exhausted and having personal strife due to constant revised scheduling! I need (was it Friday night)? off. I can't rearrange that.

Find a new job. You were told to make the schedule and told to give yourself Valentine's day off, Fri and Tue night and all day Saturday. Who told you to do that? Your boss? If so and now she is recanting, then you can't trust her to stand up for you. Why would you stay? Those kinds of jobs are always available. Move to one where you are respected.

there is something your boss can do---your boss is an idiot

the schedule was made so what gives the LOSER the right to change it---she was out hiding from her job being a lazy bum

i hope you got overtime for the work you put in

if you can--quit this job as you are working for idiots

ps... i was a manager and would never allow my employee to be treated as you were without great reward and i would never let another who wasn't in for work change a schedule aldready made

let your boss know that she asked you to make the shedule for the week and you did. that should be the one in effect . If everybody is allowed to do the schedule then nobody would be working. And as the BOSS SHE can do something about it IF she wants to ! And your co-worker was not authorized to do or schnge the schedule !

Call in sick and if you get fired there are plenty of other jobs out there where you can be a receptionist. It sounds like the place you work for is crooked and underhanded, and you deserve better! Please do not miss out on your special day with your hubby. Call In Sick!

Happy Valentine's Day!

You stop being a co-dependent personality. Then, you either express yourself to your supervisor, your HR contact, your local state office relative to Labor Issues, etc. and you take control of what you do with your days & nights.
