The "23 Enigma" refers to the Discordian belief that all incidents and events are directly connected to the number 23, some permutation of the number 23, or a number related to the number 23, given enough ingenuity on the part of the interpreter.?

Yes, it is a total coincidence. The support for it (and other similiar things like the Bible code) come from pulling a bunch of unrelated things/events together and saying that there is a relationship. This is done without checking if there are more or less of these sorts of events for any other number or if there is a more likely reason for the pattern, for example, there are larger amounts of kids born 9 monthes after a major storm or black out, coincedence, I think not!

I emailed a friend of mine with a whole bunch of 23-enigma examples. He then responded with a short answer ridiculing the idea.

Weird thing though... he used 32 letters/characters in his negative response...... weird....
