It's not just celebrities. This tendency also applies to many other, "average" people who have access to enough money to self-destruct. If they have more money than they really NEED, and don't have to worry about how the bills are gonna get paid, many people have "addictive personalities" and can't seem to control their urges for MORE of whatever substance(s) are creating their downfall. Because they still have loads of ca$h at their disposal, it becomes easy for them to delude themselves into believing that they don't have a problem!

Many celebrities put every decision in another person's hands. Usually, their manager handles scheduling and they just have to show up when told. Since the manager gets a cut of their salary, he/she wants their client to be very publicized so they can get more work = more money. A celebrity's busy schedule can become overwhelming and to help with the exhaustion, some of their peers or staff members may recommend "a little pick me up". If the celebrity disagrees, they may get pressured that it's a one time only thing or that they need to stay on top so their career doesn't get washed up. Either way, it's easy to become addicted after one dosage.

I don't believe that drug use is more prevalent in celebrities at all. I think that a lot of people are drug addicted in our society. The only difference is that it's much easier for your average joe to keep it under wraps. Our celebrity obsessed culture has made it an everyday to uncover every aspect of celebrities lives...therefore we know who smokes pot, who has an eating disorder, who doesn't get along with their nanny, who cheats ect.

Look around you. It's not only celebrities that are into drug use - you just find out about it more since they're famous and the cameras are all up in their business. Of course, just because someone uses drugs doesn't necessarily mean they're a "drug addict".

Because being a celebrity isn't as easy as it sounds.
There is a LOT of pressure on you, as you are constantly being watched, you have NO privacy and if you make one mistake it is seen by millions.
MANY celebrities have become so depressed they have killed themselves from the pressure, others have turned to drugs.

First, It is high pressure life to keep your celebrity status for ever and it is sort of escapism to resort to drugs for a short relief from the reality.
Second - opportunity to indulge
Third - Lot of money , affordability .
Fourth -Lack of maturity due getting too much too soon

It's just a bad combination of money, fame and youth. These celebs make it so easy to develop co-dependent relationships that result in a parasitic enabling situation.

Yeah they have enough money to make their dreams come true - they also have enough money to buy the really really good stuff which keeps them coming back.

I do not know if it is any more prevalent among celebrities than anyone else. It could just be that they get more attention.
