You know.. A lof of these holidays become dependent on products. People think they should buy their Valentine's something to show their love, but they don't really have to. I agree with the fact that everything becomes dependent on products. It becomes so commercial. Have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas or Valentine's day? On those days we should remember why those holidays exist. Valentine's day forces you to care for others and to pay attention to that one person that day, not to rob the stores for them. I agree with you and it is such a great question. Show love spiritually and physically, not materialistically.
Have a nice day!

The only Holiday I really spend money on is Christmas. I don't expect diamonds for Valentine's because I just am not that sort of girl. But I would love a nice ride to the mountains and a night in our special little cabin near Highlands NC.
St. Valentine was a priest who married young men when some king, and yes I forgot who it was, banned marriage because he thought marriage made bad soldiers.
No, I don't think society will stop doing the things they like to do.

It's a GR8 holiday. Not to celebrate love nessecarily, but to get some 'tang.
It's well advertized so it's less easy to forget than an anniverary. Since there is such a huge marketing campaign there are many great products to buy to impress the ladies.
It helps even the most insensitive guys (ie. me) to look like romantics and peel the panties off women. Only the cheapest of hookers will do you for the price of a dozen roses. For the pittance of a Vermont Teddy Bear I got all an access pass to my g/f last year...including the backdoor.

i do no longer in my view, we desperate that we would spend valentine's day doing something exciting mutually extremely of buying for one yet another crap. and that i definitely think of Valentines is being exploited for advertisement earnings, basically like Christmas, and maximum different holiday trips. Why can we would desire to constantly have a definite day to coach our kinfolk that we like them? we would desire to constantly try this each and daily, and you do no longer could spend a penny to coach somebody you like them. of direction, i'd be mendacity if I mentioned i did no longer relish getting a card, roses, or chocolate, yet i does no longer ask for it, and that i do no longer choose it to sense enjoyed via my boyfriend.

Because Hallmark told my fiancee that if I loved her I'd spend three paychecks on overpriced wilted roses, crappy chocolates, and a teddy bear with a magnet that kisses other bears, metal doors, or car fenders.
