I hope the nickname is Fah-Tee which is pretty, but otherkids might tease her and pronounce it Fatty which is hurtful. If you want to keep the name Fatima, I might suggest using a nickname like Ti or Tee since it's easier.
I do like the name Fatima, but I think other people are getting the misconception that its pronounced Fatty-ma instead of
Fuh/Fah-Tee-muh
Good luck!

No the kids at school would call her fatty Fati. I would go with another name like Lily Rose.

Are you serious? 10 pounds is a wonderful weight for a healthy baby. Why aren't you happy you have a healthy baby? If it was a boy would you be so concerned? Have you already put the baby's mother on a diet? You sound like a jerk, I hope you're just kidding. The poor baby is going to grow up feeling like she's not good enough if you are always taunting her about her appearance. Please don't condemn her to that kind of life!

If you are looking to raise a healthy, strong, confident daughter who knows who she is and loves what she looks like: I say no.
But if you, however, are aiming for a bulimic, self-conscious, possibly depressed and addicted young adult, I say go for 'Fati'. It has "unstable" written all over it.

Apparently there aren't too many of us out there with a sense of humor. As that was obviously a joke, I think most of the other responders need to relax.
Congrats on the baby!

You should think about the consequence of giving a name to a child, that has to go through a society that asses by first impression.

Uh huh. Make sure you start scheduling her therapy sessions before she finishes preschool. Sounds like a healthy baby to me.

Heck NO!!! That girl will grow up to have low self esteem. She will hate you when she is older. That name will give her too many bad thoughts about herself. DONT RUIN THE CHILDS LIFE JUST CUZ YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY SHE TURNED OUT.....HEALTHY. If you call her that i hope she doesn't hate herself cuz its not her fault, but hates you instead.
