I think it's probably natural instinct for anyone, not just babies, to do that. It seems like a reflex thing, like when your eyes close when you sneeze. I've noticed I do that if I'm outside and it's a really windy day. Like when you're walking, and the wind is blowing in your face.

hey. that's a great question. i noticed that too.

have you ever been walking outside on a windy day, and the wind is blowing in your face. you might stop breathing for a minute until you can turn away. its the same thing. but i don't know why they would want to dunk a baby underwater. it has chlorine in it. they dont have control over their breath like an adult would, you know?

I know we as parents like to do silly things but I never heard of blowing in a child's face before swimming Interesting. I know its a game and they look so cute. I think they do this to give them practice of holding their breath.

Why they dunk them.... to get them to overcome their fears..pretty stupid though...why they hold their breath when you blow in their face.... their lungs cant hold so much oxygen
