Will setting the graphics higher on WoW increase latency?

I bought a new video card that is able to handle setting the graphics higher, but I notice that since I've begun doing so, my latency has gone up. I used to almost always been green/yellow light, but now I'm mostly red. I also notice lag spikes seem more frequent. Could these things be related?

i doubt it but turn you setting lower and see how that makes your latency
