Because it takes practically no equipment, you can play on your own just practicing tricks and skills as well as getting involved in team games. You can play 3 a side right up to 11 competitively and with as many players as you have if it's just for fun. It is very old so has had so long to grow and blossom. It is easily understood and quite a flowing game. You can play football anywhere, we used to play games in the street, every country plays so it is a truly international game.

Basic rules, basic equipment, easy to understand.
Playing becomes descriptive of the player, and then of the team. The game reflects the culture where it is played. Every culture develops a different style.
It's hard not to love something that is so self expressive, seemingly easy to play and has the potential to make you king of the field, town/village, county, country and then the world.

It is part of their culture. This is a hard question to answer, i love soccer because it is a beautiful team game. that is why its so difficult to score goals because the team plays offense then the team plays defense. everyone on the pitch is involved.

It's a great basic game many countries easily relate to.
