I need a divorce but I can't go home to do so I was thinking of doing it on the internet?

Because you are military there are certain avenues YOU have to take in order to obtain a divorce. You need to check with the legal offices of the base you are currently assigned to, legally your wife is entitled to certain things and she may choose to contest a divorce. The one's done on the interent are only for NON-contested divorces with no property/marital asset divisions or child support issues. Depending on how long you have been married and if she has been married to you during your military duration your wife may be entitled to a percentage of your military retirement benefits, that would be considered a "marital asset" Plus she may be entitled to health/dental benefits as well. You are only making things more complicated for yourself by acting upon this while you are deployed. It will take much longer to obtain a divorce this way. But since you seem to be a coward and don't want to face her that is something YOU will have to deal with.

My husbands in the military and is away for six months. Not that it would happen, but if he told me he wanted a divorce online, over the phone, or in a letter it would devastate me. You really need to tell her in person. That's the only right thing to do.

Thank you for your service first off. And second...I understand that there are problems in relationships but I do not think that is a good way to do it. It also depends on what State you are in. I know that in North Carolina you need to be separated for a year first. I would wait till you get back.

real sweet guy.... you can't just wait until you get home?? you must be cheating or something else if you absolutely have to have the divorce right now.....
why don't you be honest with her, and let her file the papers. i am sure her lawyer would be happy to send you the papers in the mail.
you really suck as a husband.

no way thats just mean especially if she is being faithful to you but if shes doing whatever with whoever then call her and tell her the divorce papers are on the way.
