My 3rd child was born at 35 weeks. She weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz 19 inches. However she was breathing rapidly so they had to incubate her for a few hours until she was stable enough to breathe at a normal pace. It was hard because I only got to see her for a brief second and then again 4 hours later. She dropped almost 10 oz in the hospital stay and developed jaundice the day before discharge. Then she had to be on a biliblanket and the lights to help with the jaundice. We had to go to the hospital everyother day to check her bilirubin levels, which was a pain in the butt, however within 2 weeks she was good to go.
Now she's 3 1/2 and almost 40 pounds and extremely active. You would never know she was 5 weeks early.
p.s. I did take castor oil because I was having contractions for 2 days straight not consistently but they were not braxton hicks. I don't suggest doing that it only makes you more uncomfortable and let me tell you the bathroom is not a fun place to be for hours.

While many babies are born with no real problems at 35 weeks, the organs including lungs are not fully mature and the child is likely to have a low birth weight, which is associated with all kinds of problems later on in life.

My first son was born at 35 weeks. He had a few problems but nothing to major. He weighed 5 lbs 3.3 oz and was 17 3/4 inches long. He was breathing to fast at first so we couldnt feed him because they didnt want him to aspirate it into his lungs, he had to learn how to suck and was on a feeding tube for 24 hours, he had trouble keeping up his body temperature and was a little jaundice. He was born on a Thursday afternoon and got to come home Sunday night weighing 4 lbs 13 oz. Today he is a happy and healthy soon to be 4 year old.

I just read your other questions and you were asking about taking castor oil and laxatives. Did you know these can sometimes trigger labor?
At any rate, I think you should do everything you can to avoid having your baby 5 weeks premature.
My friend's sister had her baby at 33 weeks and she was tiny and had many problems. Had to say in the hospital for two months and wear a heart monitor for a year after she finally came home.
She didn't learn to walk until she was nearly four years old, and didn't potty train until well after that, despite physical therapy. She is still tiny for her age, and behind other children her age.

yes the surrvival rate at this age is very high so nothing to worry about although if the weight of the baby is low then the doctors might keep the baby in nursey for some time otherwise there is no chance of any complication, but i think the doctor will be able to guide u better

I had my daughter at 34 weeks and she was pure healthy. She did have to stay in the special care nursery for a week, but she was never on any monitors, or breathing machines. She did fine. You shouldn't have anything to worry about if the doctors didn't say anything about it.
